St. Anthony Community Hospital will host cooking event

WARWICK — St. Anthony Community Hospital will host a free informational event, “Good Nutrition at your local Farmers Market,” on Wednesday, Oct. 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will be held in the Greenbriar Room at Mount Alverno Center and is sponsored by Morrison Food Service Management, under the direction of Susan Ernhout, as part of its community out-reach commitment. Visitors will be treated to a cooking demonstration by Carmela Decker, assistant food service director and accomplished chef. Decker, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, will prepare a chicken with apple sauté dinner featuring harvest fruits and seasonal vegetables available at local farmers markets. Lead Dietitian Janine Killeen will also offer a presentation on the nutritional value of foods sold at farmers markets. Seating is limited and participants must register by calling 987-5197.
