Victor Vargas propels the Captain’s Table to 5-1 win over Poppy’s

MONROE — Victor Vargas pitched a superb game in leading the Captain’s Table over Poppy’s 5-1.

Vargas held the top hitting Pops to just a few hits and helped his own cause with a long home run. Chris Hicks also homered for the winners.

IDC Insulators 15 PC Consulting 12

The IDC Insulators improved their record to 2-0 with a come-from-behind victory over PC Consulting.

IDC found themselves down 7-1 after two innings. The Insulators rallied to cut the lead to 7-6 in the fourth inning only to find themselves down 12-6 halfway through five.

The resilient Insulators would rally for five in the fifth but still trailed 12-11.

Then in the sixth, with one on and one out, Danny Walsh gave the Insulators the lead with a two-run home run deep into the center field courts.

It would be a lead they would not relinquish.

“A” Rob McQuillan then hit a two run blast to nearly the same spot in center field to help seal the deal 15-12.

Kevin Gannon notched his first win as an Insulator with seven strong innings, collecting two hits as well. Neil Riordan had three hits and scored four runs and Allen Hall reached base four times and scored twice.

Mike Mullahy, Pat Ryan and Brad Joli combined to reach base eight times and knock in six runs for the Insulators.

Jesters Comedy Club 20 Warriors 7

Jesters Comedy Club finally broke through with their first two wins of the season.

In game one, the Jokers scored a 20-7 win over a tough Warriors squad. The offensive outburst was led by Eddie Quinn (4-4 with three doubles and three RBI’s), Paul Baum (3-4 with 4 RBI’s) and Joe Brink (3-4 with three RBI’s). An overall solid defensive effort helped to solidify the win.

Jesters Comedy Club 25 Rand Realty 5

In game two, Jesters continued their upswing by beating Rand Realty 25-5.

The offense was again led by Eddie Quinn (5-5 with four RBI’s), with Carlos Lopez who returned from the DL to go 4-5 with three RBI’s. B

ruce Fischer and Paul Baum also chipped in - each going 4-5 with four RBI’s.

The potent Rand attack was held in check by solid defense led by Charlie Williams at third base.

Next up for the resurgent Maroon and Black is their long-time rival Nebrasky Plumbing.

In other action Poppy’s defeated Kristy’s Restaurant.

Birchwood Caterers edged Master Chimney Sweeps.

Gilligan’s Clam Bar defeated Best Mechanical.
