MONROE — The 7-0 Monroe Woodbury Pop Warner Jr. Pee Wee Team will play for the Rockland County Pop Warner Championship this Sunday, Oct. 29, against Spring Valley.
The team of 28 boys started practice back on Aug. 1, preparing for the season while remembering a tough loss in the finals of the 2016 Empire State Championship last November.
All that hard work has paid off as they hit the gridiron back in early September compiling a 7-0 record while outscoring their opponents by a total of 157-20 over that span.
That includes a 23-0 win in the semi-finals over Orangetown.
Many of the boys have played together since the age of five in the Monroe Woodbury Pop Warner organization. The team is headed up by Coach Rick Macfadden, who is in his 12th year of coaching in the Monroe-Woodbury Pop Warner Organization.
A win this Sunday will solidify a spot for the Crusaders to move on to either the Pop Warner Eastern Region Playoffs or another shot at the Empire State title.
