CENTRAL VALLEY — Monroe-Woodbury Athletic Director Ron Montalto has announced that sophomore Lisa Weissburg, a member of the Girls Varsity Tennis team coached by Lori Hock, is the “Athlete of the Week” for the period ending Sept. 21.
As the fourth singles player, Lisa is 6-0 for the currently undefeated Crusader team. In terms of individual games, she is 72-16 and has not given up a set to any opponent.
Lisa’s success can be directly attributed to her incredible work ethic and desire to improve.
“She is a wonderful teammate with a coachable demeanor whose work in the offseason has helped her to thrive in a challenging part of the Crusader lineup,” Montalto wrote in his press release announcing the Athlete of the Week selection. “Lisa’s consistent ground strokes and strategic style of play, coupled with her constant hustle, make her quite a formidable opponent.”
