Sterling Forest State Park hosts First Day Hike

TUXEDO — Sterling Forest State Park is hosting a First Day Hike around Sterling Lake on Tuesday, Jan. 1, beginning at 11 a.m.
This mild four-mile trail is easy/moderate and should take between two and three hours to complete.
Along the way hikers will enjoy historic remaining structures of the iron industry, some predating the revolutionary war.
Meet at 11 a.m. in front of the Visitor Center. The hike is pet friendly as long as they are leashed.
Registration is required by calling the Park Office at 845-351-5907. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. seven days a week.
Wear sturdy shoes and dress appropriately for weather conditions; bring water and a snack.
Event is weather permitting; if the hike is cancelled park officials will call all those who have registered.
