The Crusaders paid tribute to the graduating seniors of this year’s softball team on Tuesday afternoon, holding a ceremony prior to their match against the Washingtonville Wizards.

The seniors were presented with thoughtful gifts, commemorative posters, and had the opportunity to capture cherished moments alongside their families and coaches.

The Crusaders, boasting an impressive 14-4 record for the season, came into the game with high spirits after their recent triumph over Roosevelt, where they won 12-4. On the other hand, the Wizards, who possessed a less favorable 3-15 record this season, were hoping to build on their previous win against Fallsburg, which ended in a resounding 18-0 victory.

Earlier in the season, with the Crusaders emerging triumphant with a commanding 18-2 win, both teams took to the field with determination. Leading the charge on the mound for the Crusaders was Arianna Exarchakis, who delivered an exceptional performance, pitching for two innings and tallying an impressive five strikeouts. Her teammate, Valerie Pederson, took over from there, displaying remarkable skill and securing seven strikeouts during her three innings of play. The Crusaders continued their dominance, prevailing over the Wizards with a 12-0 victory, resulting in a mercy rule-shortened game.

The Crusaders’ offensive prowess was on full display, with Exarchakis leading the charge at the plate. She showcased her batting abilities, amassing an impressive three hits, including two home runs, while crossing the plate three times and contributing four RBIs to her team’s resounding victory. Olivia Shippee also made valuable contributions to the team’s offensive onslaught with three hits, including a double, resulting in a run scored. Allyson Havercamp also delivered an exceptional performance, registering two hits, including a double, scoring two runs, and adding one RBI to the team’s tally.

With this triumph, the Crusaders extended their winning streak to 14 consecutive games. The team’s next challenge awaits them on Thursday, as they embark on a journey to Newburgh to face off against the Goldbacks.
