CENTRAL VALLEY — The Monroe-Woodbury Athletic Director George St. Lawrence has announced that Noelle LaDue, who runs for the girls varsity track and field team coached by Bill Mpasiakos, and Justin Kirton, a member of the boys varsity track and field team coached by Jim Glover, have been selected as “Athletes of the Week” for the week ending April 20.

Noelle LaDue Noelle, a freshman, is a distance runner who runs everything from the 800m to the 1,500m to the 2,000m steeple chase to the 3,000m run and does it in impressive style.

Nicknamed “Big Red” by her coaches due to her aggressive running style and the way she stands out on the track because of her strong desire to excel and win, Noelle is a major team scorer and contributor on the girls varsity track team.

During the winter season, Noelle had the fastest 800m time on the varsity team.

Displaying great range in the distance races, Noelle is a vital part of this spring’s track team. Recently, she helped the freshmen-sophomore girls win the Dragon Relays.

Noelle’s work ethic is second to none and she is an excellent teammate as well. The coaches have high expectations for Noelle this season as she continues to improve in her races.

Justin Kirton Justin, a senior, is off to an outstanding start to the spring season. Just weeks ago, he was a member of the senior record-setting long jump relay team at the Green Dragon Relays.

In the OCIAA league meet versus Pine Bush, Justin won both the 100 and 200 meter dashes and was a member of the first-place 4 by 400 meter relay.

Justin is a team leader both on and off the track. On Martin Luther King Day, he was a guest speaker at the Warwick United African Methodist Episcopal church, where he gave an impressive speech on the civil right’s leader’s famous “Letter from a Birmingham Jail.”
