CENTRAL VALLEY — The Monroe-Woodbury Girls Varsity Soccer Team played host last Saturday, Sept. 16, to the Kingston High School Tigers.
The Crusaders entered the contest with a four-game winning streak. During that time they have outscored their opponents 13-1.
Again, the Crusaders took control of the game early and scored when Colleen Kinsella put a high cross across the Tigers goal and Hannah Kelly beat her defender to the ball and put it in the net.
About half way through the first period Liz Allen fed Kaelyn Salatto and she ripped one past the Tiger goalie for the score.
In the second half Hannah Kelly struck again with a bullet of a shot from just outside the box after getting a pass from Allen.
Next Crusader Jillian Fabbro brought the ball down to the Tigers' corner, beat her defender and hit Salatto in stride who then put it in the net for her second goal.
Finally, Amara Hatzis busted through her defender as well as the Tiger goalie and scored the game's final goal.
The Crusader defense turned in another terrific effort, not allowing the Tigers a single shot on goal the entire game.
The Crusaders' 5-0 victory brings their record to 5-1 on the season.
