Monroe-Woodbury Varsity Volleyball team opens seasons with two victories

CENTRAL VALLEY — On Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 5, the Monroe-Woodbury Crusaders hosted the Washingtonville Wizards in a non-league volleyball match up.
The Crusaders entered the game with a 1-0 record, having defeated the Newburgh Goldbacks of Newburgh 3-0 the day before.
The Crusaders moved their consecutive set streak to six in a row as they shut down the Wizards: 25-23, 25-22 and 25-16.
The Crusaders offense was led by:
• Jessica Ader 11 kills, seven digs and one ace;
• Madalyn Barry 10 digs, five kills;
• Hayley Cowart 19 assists, three aces, two digs;
• Bianca Degennaro five blocks two kills; and
• Amanda Kelly six kills, three assists, one ace.
The victory brings their record to 2-0 on the season.
Their next game is scheduled for Sept. 12 at Wallkill High School.
