Monroe-Woodbury Varsity Girls Basketball Team opens the season 2-0

WESTTOWN — On Tuesday night, Dec. 4, the Monroe-Woodbury Varsity Girls Basketball Team traveled to Minisink Valley High School to face the Warriors in a non-league game.
The Crusaders got off the bus already warmed up as Jamie Waldron won the tip off and the Crusaders ran the Warriors right out of the gym.
The Crusaders' swarming defenders played an outstanding game as they held the Warriors scoreless until there was 5:15 left in the first half.
They stole the ball, deflected passes and controlled the boards.
On the offensive side they ran out to a 18-0 first quarter lead with Toni Neely scoring seven of her game-high 14 points in the period.
In the second quarter, Kathleen Silverstein poured in six points as the Crusaders pulled to a 34-8 half time lead.
In the third quarter, Taylor Neely kept the Crusaders offense rolling, scoring four points as the Crusaders stretched their lead to 46-11.
The fourth quarter, Kiley Metcalf scored two of her four points on the night as the Crusaders finished off the Warriors.
The Crusaders' victory brings their record to 2-0 on the season. They opened the season last week with a 45-32 victory over the Mahopac High School Indians. Waldron led all Monroe-Woodbury scorers with 15 points.
Their next game will be Thursday, Dec. 13, when they play in the opening round of the Pearl River Holiday Tournament at Pearl River High School.
