Monroe-Woodbury Swim and Dive team ends regular season with victory over Warwick Valley

CENTRAL VALLEY — On Thursday afternoon, Oct. 11, the Crusaders hosted the Warwick Valley Wildcats in their last home meet of the year at the Monroe-Woodbury Middle School.
Following the Crusader tradition after the diving competition was competed, the seniors on the Swim and Dive team were honored with a celebratory last lap in the pool, flowers and photos taken with their parents.
The Crusaders entered the meet with a 8-1 record on the season and the Wildcats stood at 2-7.
The Crusaders controlled the meet from the start, sweeping the first four events. The Crusader team of Chambers, O’Brien, Sheerin and Donnellan won the 200 medley relay in 2:04.40.
Mackenzie Tuttle kept the team going by taking first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:04.55.
Next, Molly Donnellan’s time of 2:28.14 gave her first in the 200 individual medley.
Finally, Jessica O’Brien sprinted to first place in the 50 freestyle in a time of 26:65.
The Wildcats won the dive completion before the Crusaders Ashley Ayala took first in the 100 Butterfly in 1:03.91.
Mackenzie Tuttle captured her second first place of the meet with a time of 57:94 in the 100 freestyle.
The 500 freestyle was won by Crusader Claire Armstrong in 5:58.52.
The Crusader team of O’Brien, O’Brien, Ebner and Sheerin came in first in the 200 freestyle race.
The Wildcats swept the last three events but it was not enough to catch the Crusaders.
The Crusaders' 101 to 72 victory brings their record to 9-1 on the season.
Their next meet will be on Saturday, Oct. 20, when they participate in the OCIAA swim meet at Washingtonville High School.
