Monroe-Woodbury overwhelms Middletown 18-3 in girls varsity lacrosse

CENTRAL VALLEY — On a misty cool Wednesday afternoon, April 25, the Crusaders hosted the Middies of Middletown in an OCIAA Division 1 contest.
The Crusaders entered the game with a 2-4 record after having beaten Bushmen of Pine Bush 19-3 on Monday afternoon.
The Crusaders took over right from the start and scored the first five goals of the game before the Middies could respond.
They then scored seven more times before the Middies were able to get a goal at the half-time buzzer.
The Crusaders were in complete control of the game with a 12-2 lead at the half.
In the second half, Head Coach Samantha Garnet got all of her players into the game as the Crusaders slowly pulled to a 18-3 victory.
Leading the Crusaders offensive attack was Colleen Kinsella with five goals and three assists and Madison Fennell with five goals.
Earlier this year Fennell became the third Crusader player to score 100 goals in her varsity career when she scored twice against John Jay on April 3.
A strong defensive effort was led by Shannon Gaffney and goalie Margret Rosaschi who was replaced by Megan Petko in the second half.
The victory over the Middies brings the team's season record to 3-4.
