CHESTER — The Monroe-Woodbury Varsity Baseball team traveled to Chester Academy to take on the Hambletonians in a preseason scrimmage last Thursday.
The two teams jumped at the opportunity to get a scrimmage under their belts even though it felt more like winter than spring.
The Crusaders broke the bats out early and scored two runs in the top of the first inning, one in the fourth, four in the fifth and six in the sixth inning as they rolled to a 12-3 preseason victory.
For the Crusaders, Tyler Guadagno collected two hits and three RBI’s and Tyler Metcalf added a hit and three RBI’s to get the Crusaders offense rolling.
On the mound Connor Olsen threw three innings, striking out four while Aidan Dietz went two innings, fanning five.
The Crusaders look to get their season started on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Tony Williams Town Park in Ulster County to take on the Huskies from Highland High School.
