    In a game reminiscent of their epic battles of the past, Ron Schnell's 3 run bomb in the top of the 7th gave Going 2 Extremes a 9-8 victory over Monroe Jewelers/Jay's Deli and a sweep of their B Division semi-final series. Schnell's heroics were supported by the 4 for 4 performance of Extremes' leadoff hitter Adam Murfree, who also helped ensure the win with a spectacular catch in center and by throwing a runner out at the plate. The Extremes offense also got support from Bob Cassili's three hits and 2 RBI's each from Bob Klopchin and Terence Burke. The Jewelers overcame a 6-1 5th inning deficit to take an 8-6 lead into the final frame on the strength of homeruns by Paul Villanacci and Billy Paladino. They also got two excellent tag plays at the plate to save runs from catcher Kevin McGrath. TIS gets it's first playoff victory with a 10-7 win over Nebraski Plumbing & Heating. Neil Riordan hit his 17th home run in 17 games & Riordan, Kevin McGee, Tom Shinkle and Humberto Gruero led TIS with 2 hits each. Peter DeLeo pitched the win. The victory advanced TIS into the semi-finals against defending C Division champ American Legion. Lang Allstate edged Easy Street / All Bright Electric 5-4 in 8 innings to knot their series at a game apiece in one of the most exciting games of the season. Lang held a 2-1 advantage entering the top of the 7th behind the sensational pitching of Papo Rodriguez. Jim Barnes led off the inning for Easy Street with a single then Anthony Rizzi hit a deep home run to dead center to give the visitors the lead. Dave Krawczak then hit a fly ball to the fence where centerfielder Dan Welsh jumped to make the play and rob Easy Street of an extra base hit. Lang then tied the game in the bottom of the 7th and after Easy Street took the lead in the top of the 8th, Ed Goeller singled in the gap to bring home the winning run. The final game in the semi final series will take place this Friday night at 7:15. J.B. McMinnions came from 6 runs down to defeat the Captains Table 12-10 and knot their series at 1-1. Mike Dowen pitched the win and Jerry Jefferson, Tom Scanlon and Rob Schepis all contributed big hits. The final game is scheduled for this Wednesday at 7:15. Budweiser won 2 games this week over the After Deck to advance to the finals of the B Division where they will meet Going 2 Extremes. In the game one 11-6 victory, Alex Jamieson pitched the win and was helped by the hitting of Mike Torre, Brian McMonegal and Howie Landesberg. Despite Coach John Grasso's severely pulled calf muscle, the Bud Boys were able to pull it out. In game 2, Budweiser scored runs early to take the 13-2 win. Jamieson pitched the win and even though Grasso was unable to play, the Bud troops still managed to put together a total team effort to make up for the loss of their beloved leader. The Brazen Head advanced to the semi-finals of the C Division with a 13-5 victory over FGFP. The victory was a total team effort as it has been all year. The Brazen Head roster includes Joe McCormack, Jesse Blattstein, Rob Raab, Tom Silipo, Dino Patrikis, Ed Van Tassell, Joe O'Connor, Pat Hochberg, Donnie Quarles, Artie Flora, Mike Clavelle, Les Rudman, Jim and Tom Pendergast, Dennis Leahy, and Tracy Robinson. The Brazen Head will now face regular season champ CB Trucking.
