Michael J. Finnegan Scholarships awarded to Kevin Egan and Anthony Patrignelli

CENTRAL VALLEY Kevin Egan and Anthony Patrignelli, two Monroe-Woodbury High School seniors and members of the 2011 varsity football team, have been awarded 2011 Michael J. Finnegan Scholarships.
The awards were presented at the Monroe-Woodbury Parents Football Clubs annual awards dinner held at Falkirk Estate & Golf Club in December.
Kevin Egan Kevin Egan received a $7,500 scholarship. He was a starting offensive lineman for the 2011 M-W Crusaders. He also ranks in the top third of his graduating class, has a four-year cumulative grade point average of 88 percent and a cumulative score of 25 on the ACT exam.
The Crusader coaching staff gives Kevin huge plaudits for filling a number of offensive positions due to injuries to other players. He was an invaluable asset to the team in his senior year.
Kevin volunteers at his local parish church, he is a member of the Student Council and a number of other school organizations.
Anthony Patrignelli Anthony Patrignelli received a $15.000 scholarship. Anthony ranks in the top 20 percent of his graduating class, has a four-year cumulative grade point average of 92 percent and a cumulative Math and Critical Writing SAT score of 1240.
He was a two-year starter on the M-W Crusader football team, and a team captain in his senior year. The coaching staff states that Anthony is a very respected young man by both the coaches and his peers. He was asked to take on a new position in his senior year and did so without hesitation for the good of the team.
He volunteers his time to a number of local organizations and charities.
About the scholarship Michael J. Finnegan was a highly successful student athlete at Monroe-Woodbury High School. The scholarship was founded after his death in 1990. Since then, 40 different M-W student athletes have been awarded a total of $432,500.
