CENTRAL VALLEY — On a hot humid morning in August, members of the Monroe-Woodbury Varsity Girls Soccer team began preparations to defend their Section 9 title.
Head Coach Bill Mpasaikos enters his third year with an impressive 34-4-2 record with two consecutive Section 9 titles and a trip to the state semifinal game last year.
The Crusaders have won five consecutive Section 9 championships dating back to 2013.
The Crusaders lost seven players to graduation but look to be strong again this year with many experienced players returning.
The Crusaders have outscored their opponents 146-24 over the last two years while posting 24 shutouts.
The team has a tough schedule this year, facing a strong Arlington team as well as Horace Greeley, Suffern, Cornwall and Yorktown in non-league matches.
The Crusaders will open their season on Thursday, Aug. 30, when they host the Gladiators of Goshen.
