M-W Parents Football Club holds annual awards dinner
CENTRAL VALLEY — On Sunday afternoon. Dec. 4, the Monroe-Woodbury Parents Football Club held its annual Football Dinner at the Falkirk Estate & Country Club for the Varsity and JV football teams and their parents.
Tony Cardone, the president of club, was the Master of Ceremonies and James P. O’Neil, the New York City Police commissioner, was the guest speaker.
The awards• Junior Varsity Head Coach Dave Colabella and assistants Mark Tooma and James D’Alessio gave out end-of-the-year awards to Jack Dembia as the Offensive Most Valuable Player, and Giovanni Fini as the Defensive MVP.
• Junior Varsity player Mike Boyle and the Varsity team's Jake Boston were both given the Bill Scully “Played The Game with Heart" award.
Then Varsity Head Coach Ryan Baldock and assistant Coaches Matt McCullagh, Jordan Bari and Mike Gennaro then gave out the Varsity awards:
• Tyler Toledo received “Rookie of the Year;"
• Benedict Brafi got the “Frank Corsello Most Improved Player:"
• Evan Shavel, the “Trenchman of the Year;"
• Vinnie Scancarello, the “Neil Ingenito Defensive Player of the Year;”
• Richard Martucci, the “Offensive Player of the Year;"
• Kyle Strauss, the “Tom Lemmey Good Citizenship Award;" and
• Johnny Bauer was given the “MVP Award."
• Benedict Brafi was awarded the “Tom Kennedy Monroe-Woodbury Parents Football Club Scholarship."
• Anthony Cytryn received the Michael J. Finnegan Football Scholar Athlete Scholarship.”
2017 co-captains namedHead Coach Ryan Baldock then announced that Kenny Hernandez, Owen Chambers and Matt Seguinot would be the captains of the 2017 Crusader Team.
