VINELAND N.J. — The Ramapo Saints Pee-Wee hockey team, which draws its 11 and 12 year-old players from across Orange County and Pike County, Pa., swept the Flyers on Saturday, March 10, this earning a trip to the USA Hockey National Tournament in Reston, Va., scheduled for March 28 through April 1.

The USA Hockey National Tournament is the premier event of the youth hockey season and it brings together state champions from across the country to compete for the national title.

The Saints defeated the Flyers 4-3 and then again 4-1 in a best-of-three series to capture the Atlantic District Championship and the N.J. State title at the Canlan Ice Sports Arena in Vineland, N.J.

The Saints are currently playing their best hockey and their confidence level is at an all-time high. Their success this past weekend can be attributed to clutch scoring, strong goal tending, stingy defense and, most importantly, phenomenal teamwork.

The Ramapo Saints will represent New Jersey and they are scheduled to play the state champions from Illinois, Texas and New Hampshire in the preliminary rounds starting on March 28.

Quarter and semi-finals are scheduled for March 31 with the finals on April 1. All games played at the national tournament will be streamed live on the Internet.

The Saints currently hold a record of 48-7-6 and are ranked 21st in the nation. Saints are coached by Steve Pelosi, Paul Cavallaro, Rob Malota and Steve Garabed.
