— Distance runner Angela Iaccarino, a member of the Monroe-Woodbury Girls Cross Country team coached by Chris Goodwin, is the high school's "Athlete of the Week" for the period ending Oct. 27.
Angela is in her second year as a member of the Girls Varsity Cross Country Team.
"While only a member of the team for a short time, Angela has contributed in various ways," Goodwin said in the press release from Athletic Director Lori Hock's office. "Angela was the fifth girl on the second-place Varsity team at the Red Raider Invitational, the sixth girl on the third-place JV team at the Wayne Pre-State Invitational and recently ran third girl position on the JV team that placed seventh at the prestigious Manhattan Invitational.
"Angela's teammates can count on her as she is dedicated and has a strong work ethic," the coach added. "Angela is also a stand out track runner as a member of the 1600M relay that placed fourth in the New York State Championship this past spring. Angela's hard work and dedication in Cross Country will certainly translate into success for her as she begins Indoor Track season in a few weeks.
