MIDDLETOWN — The Crusaders and the Middies met in a critical early season OCIAA Division 1 softball match up on Monday afternoon in Middletown.

The Crusaders increased their lead in the top of the sixth inning when Ashley Scheck doubled, scoring Palmer and Murphy again.
Samantha Ryan finished off the Crusaders scoring when she belted a triple to left, scoring Arianna Mahran in the top of the seventh inning.
On the mound, Ryan recorded her second shutout in a row, going seven innings and striking out 12 .
The 5-0 victory brings the Crusaders' record to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in OCIAA Division 1 play.
The Crusaders' next scheduled game is Wednesday at home against the Minisink Valley High School Warriors.
