Crusaders pull out victory in scorefest 11-10
On a picture perfect Wednesday afternoon, the Crusaders hosted the Tigers of Kingston in a key OCIAA Division 1 game.
The Crusaders and Tigers have battled in the Section 9 Championship game the last two years with the Tigers winning last year and the Crusaders taking the title two years ago.
The Tigers got off to a 3-0 lead half way thru the first quarter, but goals by Bennett Smith and Timothy Philbin closed the Tigers lead down to 3-2, by the end of the period.
In the second, the Crusaders surged ahead of the Tigers on goals by Max Wernicki, Smith, Philbin, Owen Neubauer and Javier Lacien to take a 7-6 lead into the half.
After the half the Tigers again regained control of the game by out scoring the Crusaders 4-2 to take a !0-9 lead heading into the fourth quarter
The Crusaders saved the best for the fourth period.
The Crusaders defense stoped the Tigers offense and anything that got thru the defense was stoped by Goalie Dean Pesce who again made several big saves when the game was on the line.
The Crusaders tied the game on a goal by Owen Neubauer and took the lead when Timothy Philbin scored late in the game.
The Crusaders 11-10 victory brings its record to 6-2 on the season.
The next game will be on Friday when they host the Wizards of Washingtonville.
