Crusaders face Minisink Valley



CENTRAL VALLEY — Monroe-Woodbury High School lost to Newburgh Free Academy in Newburgh last Friday evening by a score of 16-10. Nonetheless, the Crusaders qualified to play in the Class AA semifinals on Oct. 27.
This Friday evening, the 6-1 Crusaders take on the 5-2 Minisink Valley Warriors at home in Central Valley.
Minisink Valley also has qualified for the playoffs and will face Pine Bush in the other Class AA semifinal Oct. 27 at Dietz Stadium in Kingston.
The Crusaders will face the winner of Friday’s game between Warwick and Washingtonville in the Class AA semifinals next Saturday at Faller Field in Middletown.

Kevin Carr: Completed 4 of 15 passes for 61 yards. He also was intercepted once.

Team: 32 rushing plays for a total of 161 yards
Kevin Carr: 21 carries for 103 yards; his longest run went for 35 yards.
Michael Gavin: One carry for 10 yards
Mark Tooma: 10 carries for 48 yards, including one 40 carry.
Receiving
Team: Four receptions for 63 yards.
Mark Tooma: One catch for 10 yards.
Justin Kaffenberger: Three catches for 51 yards.
Scoring
Quarterback Kevin Carr scored six points with his rushing touchdown.
Kicker Matt Valentini totaled four points: three on an 18-yard field goal and one following Carr’s touchdown.
