Amanda Hunton is M-W ‘Athlete of the Week’

CENTRAL VALLEY — Amanda Hunton, a member of the Monroe-Woodbury Varsity Volleyball team coached by Carrie Spiegel, is the high school’s “Athlete of the Week” for the period ending Oct. 19, Athletic Director Ron Montalto announced.
Amanda, a senior, is in her third year as the starting setter for the varsity volleyball team. Amanda has played in 241 sets and currently has 1,233 assists in her career. Her serving percentage is 86 percent.
Amanda plays volleyball in the off-season for a travel team, works on her skills with a private instructor and is a West Point volleyball enthusiast.
She also works hard in the classroom and is currently working on her college choices.
In his press release announcing her selection, Montalto wrote: “Amanda’s leadership and hard work has led to the glory of the team’s offense. We have become a stronger team in the three years that Amanda has been setting.”
