SaveMonroe sponsors candidates' forum
Monroe - SaveMonroe has invited candidates running for office in the Village of Monroe to a Q&A forum on Monday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. at Eitz Chaim synagogue on County Route 105 in Monroe. The forum is open to the public. Chris Mele, a Times Herald-Record editor, will moderate. Candidates for mayor are John Karl III and Jeff Peifer. Candidates for the two trustee positions on the village board are: Jim Purcell, Wayne Chan, Charles Lesser and Scott Ferguson. The election is March 21. Monroe Dems to host candidates in March and April Monroe - The Monroe Democratic Committee will be hosting a series of public meetings for Democratic candidates seeking office this November. All meetings begin at 8 p.m. in the John DeAngelis Meeting Hall on 15 Lakes St. in Monroe. The schedule is: March 29, Judy Aydelott and Darren Rigger, candidates for the 19th Congressional District seat held by Republican incumbent Sue Kelly; and Elaine Slobod, candidate for state Supreme Court. April 26: Jon Hall, Jim Martorano and Ben Shuldiner, candidates for the 19th Congressional District. The public is invited. Friends of Monroe Free Library plan breakfast Monroe The Friends of the Monroe Free Library will hold an informational Breakfast Open House from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 25. The informal get-together will let those interested in relaunching the Friends meet neighbors with similar interests and concerns. Children are welcome. Friends of the library can play an important part in influencing the future development of the library, organizing fundraising events, and stimulating the use of the library through special programs. “We invite new friends who are interested in making a difference in our community’” said Barbara Zerner, a library trustee.
