To the editor: The members of SaveMonroe have dedicated themselves to improving the quality of life for all the citizens of the Town of Monroe as well as the Village of Monroe. Many of our members reside within the village. After long and careful consideration SaveMonroe is endorsing John Karl III for mayor, and Charles Lesser and Wayne Chan for trustee. All the candidates should be commended for their desire to serve the people of the Village of Monroe. SaveMonroe made its decision to endorse these candidates across party lines. We feel that in the two years since John Karl was elected to the village board, he has made a sincere and significant attempt at initiating changes and improvements that are difficult but necessary in a changing community. We also feel he is fiscally responsible and innovative. John has actively volunteered in the community for many years. Charles Lesser has lived and worked in Monroe for more than 50 years. He has a local business. Charles is an active senior. He understands the challenges that face many of the seniors in the Village of Monroe. Charles knows first-hand how important Main Street and its revitalization is to the village. Wayne Chan is a respected volunteer with our ambulance corps. He is well-known in the community for his honesty and fairness. We firmly believe all three of these candidates will be a credit to the village that they will serve. We ask that the members of the village of Monroe support these candidates. The board of directors of SaveMonroe Inc. Christina Keisel, secretary
