Sack races, fast, vintage cars and a good time had by many at ‘The Rez'

Highland Mills - The Woodbury Parks Department held its annual Field Day last Saturday, Aug. 15, for the enjoyment of children of many ages at “The Rez,” otherwise known as the Earl Reservoir. Events included egg toss, cannonballs, dizzy spin, sack races, egg carry, tug-of-war and pudding and watermelon-eating contests. The highlight, though, was the Central Valley Fire Department’s Pumper, which sprayed water on those brave enough to remain in the water. The day ended with an outdoor movie and popcorn on the house, so to speak. The following day, “The Rez” hosted a fund raiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The event featured classic and exotic cars as well as motorcycles. The cars of the 50’s and 60’s brought back many nostalgic moments for children of another age. In its press release, Parks Department officials thanked all the participants of both events. The department also hopes to have pictures of past and current events on its web site (www.woodburyparkandrec.com) in the near future.
