Run or walk for the annual 5K Turkey Trot
Monroe The annual Turkey Trot and Health Walk by the Monroe Joint Parks and Recreation Department will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26. The race will start and finish at Smith’s Clove Park on Spring St. in Monroe, with pre-registration at 7:45 a.m., race day registration from 8 to 8:45 a.m., and the Trot and Walk starting at 9 a.m. The entry fee is $18, and checks should be made payable to: MJP&R. Race packets can be picked up on race day in the park’s administrative building. Both the Trot and Walk are five kilometers, following a course out of Smith’s Clove Park through the downtown Monroe and out a scenic wooded course and then back to the park. Bikes or pets will not be allowed on the course. Plenty of parking will be provided. Age category awards will include one trophy for overall winner, and medals for the top three in each of the following age groups: under 13, 14 to 16, 17 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 and up. All runners and walkers will receive a participation ribbon. A limited number of T-shirts will be available. For more information, write to eleonard@frontiernet.net.
