American flags that become worn, torn or faded from use can be officially retired during ceremonies, usually conducted by Boy Scouts and veterans organizations. Such was the case last Sunday at the Gate House on Smith Clove Road in Central Valley. Woodbury Boy Scouts and Cub Scout Troop 149 joined with the American Legion and the Woodbury Historical Society to retire a number of American flags. Photos by Ignacio Acevedo
