Regional fire district talks progressing

MONROE - The Monroe Town Board approved a retainer agreement this week for the firm of Wein, Young, Fenton & Kelsey, P.C. of Guilderland for the formation of a regional fire district. Talks have been ongoing between the Town and Village of Monroe, the Village of Harriman and the local fire company’s: Monroe Lakeside Fire & Rescue Company, the Mombasha Fire Company and the Harriman Engine Company for the creation of a local fire district. Monroe Town Supervisor Sandy Leonard said she has every confidence the formation of a fire district will reach a conclusion. The next meeting is March 29 in the Senior Center.
