Red Ribbon Week signals drug-free spirit

“Build your future, keep drugs out” was this year’s Red Ribbon Week theme at Central Valley Elementary School. For five days, beginning on Monday, Oct. 24, students were motivated by drug-free messages to make healthy choices. Daily activities were offered that encouraged a drug-free, smoke-free lifestyle. To coincide with Thursday’s theme, “Show Your School Spirit, Be Drug-Free,” the Monroe-Woodbury High School Cheerleaders entertained the younger students with drug-free spirit cheers that had been made up especially for the occasion. The intention was to get the students to think positively about themselves, and to show them that anything is possible when you’re drug-free. The goal is to help students refrain from the temptation of drugs in the future.
