Putting concerns to rest about the Monroe Ambulance Corps

| 22 Feb 2012 | 02:01

Please allow me to take the opportunity to put to rest any concerns that may have arisen from a letter in last week’s Photo News. The residents of the Town of Monroe who live in the Lakeside Fire Company’s protection area receive the same ambulance coverage as everyone else who is served by Monroe Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Monroe Volunteer Ambulance Corps operates 24/7/365. We have a combination of volunteers and paid day crews to insure a timely response throughout the day as well as night. Although it is true that the fire departments will no longer be dispatched to medical calls as of Jan. 1, 2011, all medical personnel from the fire departments that cover Monroe have been offered Associate membership in the Monroe Volunteer Ambulance Corps so that they can continue to care for the medical needs of the community. The Monroe Volunteer Ambulance Corps is fortunate to work with three wonderful fire departments - Mombasha, Harriman and Lakeside - and will continue to enjoy a working relationship with them as they form one fire district.
