Central Valley — With the help of its PTA, the students at Central Valley Elementary had the opportunity to connect with an author and illustrator for Author’s Day. On Monday, Nov. 21, the fourth and fifth graders met with author Todd Strasser, best known for his “Help I’m Trapped” series. As he presented the various aspects of the writing, illustrating and publishing process, the students learned what a writer does, and how a book becomes a printed reality. On Tuesday, Nov. 22, the second and third graders met with author and illustrator Lisa Desimini, who explained how she takes an idea and turns it into a story. She outlined some of the different creative processes that go into the production of her illustrations and images, and had the students of each group assist her in creating an original piece of artwork.
