Newburgh man pleads guilty in child rape case
Goshen. Kelvin Dubon-Rivas faces up to 20 years in prison.

On Friday, January 31, Kelvin Dubon-Rivas, 34, of Newburgh, pled guilty in Orange County Court to rape in the first degree, Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler announced. Dubon-Rivas is scheduled to be sentenced on May 20, 2025; the prosecution says it will recommend that he be sentenced to 20 years in prison to be followed by 20 years of post-release supervision. As part of the sentence, Dubon-Rivas will also be registered as a sex offender under the New York Sex Offender Registration Act (SORA). As part of the plea, Dubon-Rivas admitted that in September 2024 he engaged in “anal sexual contact with an individual who was less than 11 years old,” Hoovler’s announcement stated.
“No child should ever be subjected to the repulsive acts perpetrated by this defendant,” said Hoovler. “The significant sentence this defendant faces is the only way to ensure that he is unable to harm others. My office, together with our law enforcement partners, will never stop seeking to hold sexual predators accountable for their conduct. We will continue to ensure justice is served in these challenging cases.”
The case is being prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Jessica Dovico.
