On Tuesday, Aug. 10, at approximately 9:30 p.m. the New York State Police in Monroe responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on Forest Road in Kiryas Joel.
According to a press release from the State Police, the initial investigation indicates that Michael Gestetner, 18, of Brooklyn, was operating a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse southbound on Forest Road when Aaron Freeman, 16, of Monroe, abruptly entered the roadway and was struck by the vehicle.
Freeman was taken by ambulance to Westchester Medical Center and was ultimately pronounced deceased.
This investigation remains ongoing.
