For the past two months, Pine Tree Elementary School students and staff have undertaken activities to support the Hudson Valley chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). School staff participated in the “Dress Down for Leukemia Day” on March 24. For a $5 donation, staff members received a sticker to wear on their clothing noting their participation. During February, students raised money through LLS’ “Pennies for Patients Program.” Their combined efforts raised $600. Gathering to mark their success are Assistant Principal Karen Brock, fifth-graders Joe Sessa, Fiona Debold, Valene Murray and Johny Gonzalez, with Angela Pescosolido, LLS campaign manager.
