Pine Island Summer Fest opens tonight

Pine Island — The Polish Legion of American Veterans, Post 16 and The Pine Island Fire Department will honor 1st Lt. Jason Mazzella, tomorrrow, Aug. 14t at 3 p.m. as part of its weekend events for the Pine Island Summer Fest “Salute to Our Hometown Armed Forces.” The Legion is asking everyone in Pine Island and the surrounding area to fly their American flags outside of their home or business this weekend. The Summer Fest, which starts tonight and runs through Sunday, will include a carnival, games, music, food, beverages, and vendors. The annual Onion Eating Contest is tonight along with music from the band Hot Rod Band. Saturday is the fourth annual Kool Classic Car Show with music by Rivers Edge Band at 7 p.m. and fireworks at 10:15 p.m. Call 258-1410 for more information.
