Parking fees begin in January at Metro North stations
Harriman - Effective Jan. 3, Metro North will be charging fees for use of the parking lot at the Harriman station. The parking lot has been available to commuters and visitors free of charge until now. Metro North officials said they must increase revenue to keep up with the costs of maintaining the parking facilities. Parking permits will be available for those who commute to work each day; there also will be metered parking available. The fees for metered parking will be $2 for 16 hours; $3 for 24 hours. Metro-North will offer three long-term parking permits: The three-month permit will cost $64.88; the six-month permit will cost $121.10; and the twelve-month will cost $207.60. The railroad will offer a promotion until Jan. 31 that will add three free months to the twelve-month permit and one free month to the six-month permit.
