'Parents Night Out' event benefits Our Father's Kitchen

MONROE — The Pine Tree Elementary School’s recent “Parents Night Out” was an evening of jazz, pop, rock and Broadway featuring local musicians while benefitting Our Father’s Kitchen, the soup kitchen based at Sacred Heart Chapel in Monroe. Organizers said it took months of preparation for the newly formed “Pine Tree Glee Club” to prepare. The club featured the voices of Robin White, Doris Bjorkman, Lynn Brown, Jessica Borner, Trish Ryan, Carmen Nardone, Patricia De Bruhl, Phyllis Beverly, Christopher Taborsky, Lise Lindros-Prizgintas, Toni-Anne Leone, Matt Spitzer, Jeff Friedman, Mary Fillingham, Tricia Allen, Michele George, Peter Ballantoni and Bob Barlow. Original scores were written and performed by Bob Barlow. Viktor Prizgintas and the Allegro Orchestra also performed. The orchestra is comprised of students from Monroe-Woodbury’s elementary, middle and high schools. Performances also included Jermaine and his daughter Arealyah Paul, who performed an original duet. Her aunt Wendy Paige also performed a solo act. Organizers added Robin White was the catalyst behind the entire program and emceed the night. The soup kitchen serves free meals weekly to those in need from 5 to 7 p.m. at the chapel on Stage Road.
