Highland Mills - Palaia Vineyards and Winery will exhibit the art work of Ron Welch in its tasting room during February. “Ron walked into our tent last summer during an outside concert on the lawn and started to do some sketches of the people in the crowd,” said vineyard owner Jan Palaggi. “He had some of his other work with him and we thought he should have a space to show it. “Ron was born in Kansas and served in the Navy for 20 years, spending time in Iraq and Kuwait,” Palaggi added. “Most of his subject matter is either from his time in the Navy, figure studies or images from the New York Renaissance Faire. We love Ron’s outlook on life and work,” the vineyard owner said. “He does not do commissions. He is a very nice man and will talk a blue streak given a chance. The winery, located on Sweet Clover Road in Highland Mills, is open Thursday and Fridays, from 4 to 9 p.m., Saturday’s from noon to 9 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. Call 928-5384 or visit online at www.palaiavineyards.com.
