ALBANY The high price of gasoline again seems to be driving more people to stay close to home. State Parks campgrounds are beginning to open and state officials say demand is on the rise. Parks Commissioner Rose Harvey says more than 283,000 nights had been reserved through April. That’s about 4,000 nights more than at the same point a year ago. The state operates 65 campgrounds with 8,400 camp sites, 750 cabins and 50 vacation rentals. Reservations are available through ReserveAmerica and can be made up to nine months in advance.
