Monroe - On April 8, students from Nicole Brown’s third-grade class as North Main Elementary School took a trip to the Monroe Village Justice Court to learn more about their local court system. Judge Forrest Strauss taught the students about how trials and hearings are conducted, after which they participated in a mock hearing. Students volunteered to play the judge, the lawyers and the witnesses in the court proceeding and a student jury was then asked to render a verdict. After the mock-hearing, each student was given a certificate, recognizing their commitment to the pursuit of truth and justice and proclaiming the day to be “North Main Street Elementary Third Grade Day” at the Village Court.
