No movies, no bowling, nothing

To the editor: I was so sad to see that the movie theatre on Mill Pond Parkway might never come to fruition. I’m sure there is someone locally or a group who would jump at this project. I know the location is not the best due to limited parking, but it’s a good spot for people to walk to or to drop their teenage children off. We need something for the kids in Monroe and with the amount of people now living in this town, I’m sure they would certainly sell enough movie tickets. It was really unfortunate when the bowling alley burned down - we all thought someone would come in and rebuild that, either a new bowling alley, skating center, or ideally a movie theatre; plenty of parking spaces. However, now I hear it will be another office/shopping area. We have more than enough shopping now - we need a movie theatre - something for the kids, as well as adults, to do in this town. I hope that the Town Board will try its hardest to find someone to purchase the building and continue with the project. Monroe has really grown since I moved here ten years ago and there are lots and lots of new families- let’s do something here that everyone can enjoy. Kathy Fico Monroe
