New moving and hauling company has charity component

GOSHEN BeeLine Moving & Hauling, new to the Hudson Valley, turns one person’s junk into another’s treasure by donating salvageable items to the region’s poor and displaced families. Owner Brendan Mullally said the donation portion of his business, which he calls “Junk for Charity,” is a logical by-product of the hauling business. When he moves someone’s belongings. There’s often something destined to be thrown away or left behind that can be used by someone else. “People who hire us to move their belongings or to haul their junk away tell me they feel good knowing that items they no longer want can be put to good use,” said Mullally. Most of the families he helps are the area’s newly homeless who have been placed in empty apartments by a rapid rehousing program. They’ve got a roof over their heads but often not any furniture or kitchenware, said Mullally. “I not only recycle materials like boxes, plastics and metals, but also unwanted, practical items for those who’ve hit hard times,” said Mullally.
