MONROE-Musical Munchkins, a well renowned music program for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers, will open this Fall at the Orange County School of Dance, 16 Lakes Street in Monroe Andrea Soberman, director and owner of Musical Munchkins, has been teaching music to young children for the past 15 years, and began Musical Munchkins 11 years ago in Goshen and in Cornwall. There are now ninw centers in Orange, Ulster and Dutchess. She said she is very excited to be coming to Monroe. "Children need to develop many skills before they are ready to read music and study an instrument. By engaging a child's joyful energy in fun and creative ways that spark the imagination, we at Musical Munchkins® strive to reach our goals of nurturing each child's natural musicianship, building self-esteem, and enhancing the ability for joyful expression through music. Research proves that very young children exposed to music early on can later learn more quickly, and show more advanced verbal, cognitive, and analytical skills." At Musical Munchkins music begins with babies as young as 4 months old and ends with kindergartners. Winner of "Best Children's Music Program award" in the Hudson Valley, "Miss Andrea" invites residents to come preview a class on Monday, Sept. 13 or Tuesday, Sept. 14. Music classes will be held for Babies (4 -12 months), music and movement classes for 1 yr olds, 2 & 3 year olds and young musician classes for 3, 4 & 5 year olds.
