Movies and the rustic beauty of Monroe
To the editor: I have lived in Monroe for the past 13 years. As I have grown, I have learned to admire the rustic beauty of Monroe. The rustic beauty of it, though, does not include the three-story, rusted iron structure known to the public as “The Future Monroe Theater.” Well, I would like to know when the village of Monroe will make the future the present. My friends and I would like to know when would we be able to go to the movies in Monroe and not have to hit our parents up for a ride to Chester, Middletown or Newburgh. After awhile, it gets annoying of having to make a day out of going to the movies - just to go to the movies. How long are we going to have to wait? How much longer will the three-story tall eyesore stand there next to the library until someone actually does something? To the Village Board of Monroe, either do something about it or tear it down. In addition, restore the rustic beauty of Monroe that I have known for the past 13 years. Cordially yours, Kate Byrnes, sophomore Monroe-Woodbury High School
