Mount Saint Mary College to offer day trips

    NEWBURGH—Mount Saint Mary College is offering five day trips this fall. On Monday, Oct. 17, a mystery walking tour of Greenwich Village will follow the footsteps of famous fictional characters of literature and visit sites where mystery writers lived and worked. The tour will include visits to Washington Square Park and Potter's Field, and stops for lunch, refreshments, Jekyll and Hide, and a haunted restaurant. Register by Friday, Oct. 7. The fee is $35, which covers transportation only. On Friday, Nov. 4, a tour of the Culinary Institute of America will include lunch. The registration deadline is Thursday, Oct. 20. The fee of $50 does not cover transportation, as participants meet at the institute. On Sunday, Nov. 6, the trip involves a matinee Broadway performance of "Beauty and the Beast." Register by Monday, Oct. 24. The fee of $110 includes center orchestra seats. On Thursday, Dec. 1, a visit to Washington Irving's Sunnyside will include Christmas stories and a carol sing-along. After lunch, participants will visit the 18th century Van Cortlandt Manor for a traditional English holiday celebration. Register by Wednesday, Nov. 16. The fee is $70. On Wednesday, Dec. 7, transportation will be supplied to New York City for holiday shopping, to see a show, or to visit the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. Register by Wednesday, Nov. 30.
