Monroe Village Justice Forrest Strauss nominated for state public service award
Monroe The Orange County Bar Association and the White Plains Bar Association have nominated Monroe Village Justice Forrest Strauss for the New York State Bar Association’s “Excellence in Public Service” award. The award recognizes a lawyer’s commitment to and performance of public service. According to the press release announcing the judge’s nomination, “Individuals must epitomize a commitment to the highest and noblest calling afforded by the legal profession: to preserve and protect the public and their efforts must demonstrate a commitment to service, honor and integrity.” Winners selected will receive their awards at a presentation scheduled for Jan. 24 during the state bar’ association’s annual meeting. Strauss, a past president of the Orange County Bar Association and the current president of the New York State Association of Disciplinary Counsel, has long been an active participant in the New York State Bar Association. He previously chaired the state Conference of Bar Leaders and currently serves as an elected Delegate At Large for the 9th Judicial District on both its Nominating Committee and its House of Delegates. “I’m grateful for the nomination and the recognition it represents,” Strauss said in the press release. “However, it is more a reflection of the excellence exemplified by the many talented, hard working and committed public servants I have the good fortunate to work with every day than anything else.” This is the fourth time that the Orange County Bar Association has nominated Strauss for the award.
