Monroe Senior League playoffs continue
Monroe - Loyal Tire moved into the semi-final round of the B/C Division with a 12-7 win over Pro Motion. Pete Pisacano led the Tireman with a couple of hits, including a three-run homer. Pete Lanaro had two big hits and was stellar behind the plate. Shannon Gleeson, Neil Winter, Rob Winter, Scott Petillo, Marty Diamond, John Sullivan, Jerry Aherne, Ed O'Carroll and Manny Guella all had hits in the victory. Danny Boyle also had a clutch pinch-hit single. Meanwhile, in other playoff action: JB McMinnions defeated Lang Allstate 17-3. Mike Dowen's outstanding pitching and fielding performance launched JB McMinnions into the A Division finals for the second consecutive year. Richie Robinson starred offensively for the winners with a tape measure three-run home run and four RBI's. Don Cunningham added three RBI's with two hits while Jerry Jefferson, Tom Scanlon and Bob Shepis each contributed three hits a piece. John Macchia starred defensively for McMinnions. Tommy D's advanced to the A Division finals for the fifth straight year with a 7-3 victory over the Captains Table. Tom Gilbert pitched the win and was helped by Dave Krawczyk's four hits, including a home run. Anthony Rizzi added a two-run shot for the winners. The victory insures a rematch of last year's thrilling final with J.B. McMinnions. TIS defeated Monroe Jewelers 7-5 in the first game of their quarterfinal B/C series. Pat Ryan and Kevin Mare each had two hits and Steve Donovan and Kevin McGee each had two big RBI's. Steve Berry pitched the win. FGFP advanced to the semi-finals of the B/C against Fatboys by beating Brazen Head Pub 6-3. Elliot Kornreich pitched the win. Fatboys defeated Billy Ball to setup the meeting with FGFP.
