MONROE - No arrests have been made in the recent burglaries that have hit the Village of Monroe in November and December. Det. James Frankild said mostly cash and jewelry has been taken from eight homes in the Cunningham, Rye Hill Road and other areas. Two attempts have been thwarted. A neighbor saw a suspicious person trying to break into a home in Timber Hills. He ran away when she called out to him, police said. A burglar who tried to pry open a door on a home on Amy Todt Drive was deterred by the strong locks on the house, police added. Police are asking the public to call them immediately at 782-8644 if they see a suspicious person or car in their neighborhood or if they see someone cutting through a backyard.
