Monroe Police charge four men for violating probation

    Monroe - Monroe Village Police teamed up with Orange County Probation Officers on Thursday evening, Jan. 27, to conducted compliance checks of people living in Monroe who are currently on probation. Three teams of officers visited the homes of approximately three dozen probationers. The people visited were on probation for driving while intoxicated, assault, grand larceny, drug possession and robbery. During the course of the evening four people were arrested: James Chambers, 43, was arrested on charges of probation violation when officers found him to be intoxicated at his home. Police said one of the conditions of his probation was to refrain from using alcoholic beverages. He was sent to Orange County Jail pending a probation violation hearing. Brian Nozkowski, 45, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance after officers found narcotics in his home during the search. Police said Nozkowski also tested positive for consuming alcohol, which violated a condition of his probation. He was sent to Orange County Jail pending a probation violation hearing; new criminal charges will be heard in Monroe Village Court. Lawrence Vazquez, 21, was arrested at his home when officers found him to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana. He was sent to Orange County Jail on the probation violation and the new charge will be heard in Monroe Village Court. Jeremy Marray, 21, was arrested at his home after officers discovered marijuana, an assortment of marijuana-related paraphernalia, several syringes and a small quantity of narcotics in his bedroom. He was sent to Orange County Jail on the probation violation and will face the new charges in Monroe Village Court. Det. James Frankild said unannounced compliance checks “will continue so that our department and the Orange County Probation Department are ensured that people sentenced to probation are adhering to their conditions. In this case, most people were, but there is always a few who won’t, and they will now have to face the judge.”
